In Memoriam: Marshall Sahlins

/ April 2, 2021

CSSH joins all of Anthropology in mourning the loss of Marshall Sahlins (1930-2021). He wrote one of our mostly widely cited articles, “Poor Man, Rich Man, Big-man, Chief: Political Types in Melanesia and Polynesia,” which we are making available gratis in his memory. He was a big man and a chief among CSSH authors. We will miss him, and read him, and remember all the magnificent work he did.
